Southern Peach and Blackberry Cobbler

A warm, comforting Southern peach and blackberry cobbler bursting with juicy fruit and topped with a golden, buttery crust — perfect for any dessert table.

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine peaches, blackberries, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Toss gently to coat the fruit evenly.
  3. Transfer the fruit mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined to form the batter.
  6. Pour the batter evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the topping comes out clean.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
