Southern Fried Chicken Tenders

Crispy and flavorful Southern Fried Chicken Tenders offer a classic comfort food experience with tender, juicy chicken coated in a seasoned, golden crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken tenders
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken tenders in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, then dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing to coat thoroughly.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully fry chicken tenders in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-6 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer cooked tenders to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double dredge the chicken by dipping back into buttermilk after the first flour coating and then into the flour again before frying.
